Uppsala Parish

The Church of Sweden in Uppsala consists of six urban congregations working together and is also responsible for Uppsala cemeteries.

Five of the congregations formed Uppsala Parish in 2014 with a common board and leadership. Together, we aim to be the local church for 180,000 residents of Uppsala.

Deacon for Gottsunda Congregation

As one of the congregation's deacons is retiring, we are now looking for a successor. We hope you enjoy being in a multicultural congregation. You are needed and will be able to make a difference for people in vulnerable situations. The starting point is to share people's faith and life based on the power of the Gospel.

About the Position

The position encompasses breadth and variation for people of all ages, but with a special focus on the elderly and congregational development. Your other tasks include participating in worship services, pastoral care, discussion groups, and devotions at nursing homes. Collaboration also takes place in the parish regarding certain diaconal activities such as grief groups.

Qualifications

You are a deacon according to the Church of Sweden's order. We prefer that you have experience in development work. The ability to work both closely and in everyday situations while also thinking strategically and long-term is important for the position. You are creative and interested in new ways to be a church in growing neighborhoods.

Personal Qualities

We are looking for someone who enjoys working independently and is also a team player. You are social, flexible, and enjoy building relationships with people of different ages. You are open to people's differences and appreciate diversity. You have a diaconal perspective and want to work to empower people in vulnerable situations. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.

Information about the Position

The position is a permanent full-time employment. A probationary period may apply. Start date is May 1, 2026, or by agreement.
